Our
first worship service in our new church building was extra special (our
Christmas service!) and extra full (standing-room only!) We had many reasons to thank our God this
Christmas- not only for the gift of His Son, but also the gift of our larger
church space, and the gift of many brothers worshipping in our area!
The
extra space of the new building was especially helpful for our potluck and game
times after the service: we had the buffet line of Christmas dishes that
everyone brought to share in one room, and the tables in the other! We had kids playing outside while adults
served plates inside! (Such a novelty!
We had not had a
multiple-room church space before!)
Paco
and I provided tiny gifts for the brothers to play a gift exchange that had everyone
from our 3-year-old to our 70-year-old visitors laughing and happy. Such joy!
Though
we were praising God for our larger church space for the special time, the new
building was not without its struggles: we do not have a full-functioning
bathroom, the unfinished
floors are dust-covered, without shelves we were
struggling to find dishes we needed for potluck, without electricity we could
not project song lyrics, and without a finished-fence we had to carefully watch
the children playing outside (honestly, it was a tough set-up for me as a mom
of two babies!). However, the Lord’s
blessing over the service impacted the brothers, and all are encouraged to help
continue the long process of preparing the church space the Lord has provided.
