After more than 2 years of renting a tiny church space
in the very center of the Misiones community- lasting fruits were few...
Many people had heard Gospel (through evangelistic movie nights, concerts,
children’s events, and services), but only 3 families (or 6 people) had
faithfully joined the body. On some Sundays, even those members were
busy, and our worship service was empty.
With the start of 2018, the slow
fruits
were starting to discourage us. We started praying about cancelling our
rent and moving the small group to a house for simply a weekly Bible study.
However, in February, Paco suddenly felt convicted
that the Holy Spirit still had plans for this area! In fact, he felt led
by the Lord not to downsize but rather to expand the ministry- even in the face
of so few interested people.
He started praying and searching
for a new space to
rent, and, in March, found one!
This “larger” space on the outside of the
community was still just a single 16ftX16ft room, but with an empty lot out
back available for children’s ministry games or tent for classes.
Renting this new space was completely an act of faith:
-Why did we need this larger space when we did not
even fill our previous shoebox church room?
-Why did we need a patio for children’s ministry when
no children attended Sunday service?
-Why would moving farther away from the center of town
attract more people?
Only because we felt directed by the Lord.
Once renting, we started the long
process of repairing and preparing the room: cleaning, painting, shelves,
lights, decorations, moving dirt on the patio out back, and more.
However, we were not
alone: the three faithful church families joined in to
help, excited along with us about the work the Lord has planned for this new
area.
