Youth Worship Concert and Conferences

“Movimiento,”  the worship team of Horizon church in Ensenada, Mexico, presented Biblical conferences and concerts for youth around the country.  Our youth group was thrilled to attend their event here in Puebla this week!

The event drew so much attention that even some guest youth joined
along with our group to attend.  (Paco and I were especially excited for these new youth to hear the message of Jesus!)

With the lights, the sound system, and experienced musicians, the worship concert was top quality and enjoyed
by all.  One of the guest youth who attended with us even commented afterwards how much she loved the music!  Two speakers presented Bible messages reminding the youth of God’s love for them and their call to service.

We thank the Lord for this free event which spoke Biblical truth into the
lives of our youth, and we pray that each would be challenged to follow Jesus with even more commitment in their lives.

Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday is a day of so much joy- remembering our salvation from death and punishment through Christ’s powerful resurrection!

In celebration, we enjoyed a special Sunday service at our church plant in Misiones.  This was the first Sunday that we shared communion, the Lord’s supper, with the body there.  Afterwards, we shared a meal and time of fellowship.

We were so excited to have three new families join us for the resurrection
service!  These families had attended the outdoor movie nights that week and heard the Gospel message.  One family, a father and his adolescent daughter, actually told Paco that they wanted to know and live for Jesus Christ! They said they had been reading the Bible we had given them at the movie nights and now wanted a church body to help them understand and apply the Bible more!

Another new family, a lady and her grandson, said they recognized their need God’s help after the movies and message.  She had tears in her eyes as she shared problems in her family and her finances- she didn’t even have money for food or electricity that week!  After praying for her, the church sent her home with her arms full of food- she was amazed at the
love of Christ’s body.

Spring Cleaning at Church

Much of our church body gathered early on a Saturday morning for a work day at the church site.  The unfinished building has taken years to construct, and still has years of work left before being completed, and each church work day allows a little more progress on the building, and a lot of fun fellowship!

The men dug out rocks and dirt to start forming one of the outer walls around the building.  They also started preparing a site for the installation of an electricity pole (with the hopes of one day having electricity at our church!).  Everyone from the church elders (like the pastor) to the young men, to the little boys, participated in digging and dumping.

While the men worked, the women and girls were preparing breakfast: handmade tortillas (for quesadillas) and “memelas” out of ground corn, with lots of salsas.  I was even molding the corn masa right along with the Mexican women- having a blast!

Who knew spring cleaning could be so much fun?

Evangelistic Movies During Easter Week

On the Thursday and Friday before Easter (known as Holy Thursday and Good Friday), we projected evangelistic movies outside at dusk along the main street in the Misiones community.

The room we rent for our church in Misiones is directly over a small basketball court on the main street.  We set up folding chairs throughout the court and a screen under the hoop, and passed out lots of flyers inviting the community to the family movie nights.   On Thursday we presented the movie “War Room” and on Friday, “Son of God”.

What a turn out!  Both on Thursday and Friday, over 60 people attended to not only watch the movie but hear the Gospel message afterwards.    There we so many people that many were standing to watch even at the park behind the basketball court!

On Thursday night, after the message, one young man even approached Paco
to confess that he had made a mess out of his life and marriage and needed God’s forgiveness and help.  Paco prayed with him right there for Jesus’ presence in him!

We praise God for such a perfect location for our church, for such perfect weather for the movie nights, and for every person who heard the
truth of salvation through Jesus Christ!

Pool and Park Day with Youth

Yay! Spring break in Mexico!  But, what fun is spring break without an outing in the sun?

Our youth group spent a day at a pool and park about an hour away from us.  It was the perfect opportunity to invite other youth kids to join our group, and we had one new boy and a few infrequent members join along for the
fun!  We pray that they will feel comfortable to join our weekly Bible studies as well.

Unfortunately, the day was very cloudy and cool- definitely not pool weather.  Even so, the weather could not stop our fun!  We played kickball, soccer, volleyball, charades and card games.  Four of the youth (including
Paco) were even brave enough to get in the water, though they turned varying shades of blue from the cold J.  Everyone enjoyed lunch- which Paco grilled there at the park.

We praise the Lord to see the friendships that He is forming among these special youth.
