“Operation
Christmas Child” is about more than just giving shoebox gifts to children at
Christmas; the ministry also offers material to disciple those children with
the truth of the Bible in 12 weeks of classes.
As
part of the OCC (“Operation Christmas Child”) team, we have the opportunity to
train childrens’
teachers from churches around our state to impart Bible
classes.
We
walk them through both the children’s workbook and teacher’s manual of “The
Greatest Journey” (the OCC discipleship material), and then demonstrate a
children’s class. They also receive a
workshop of preparing their own Bible lessons so that they can continue to
teach the children after the 12 week program ends.
I
love this ministry! A lady approached me
after the last training session to thank us- she said she was a brand-new Bible
teacher and felt more prepared to teach after our workshop.
Our
OCC team will host 4 of these sessions before Christmas, in order to train
sufficient Bible teachers for all
the children who receive Christ through the
shoebox ministry.
